§1About This Website

sebgrd.dev is the personal portfolio website of Sebastien Girard, a Software Developer based in Ottawa, Canada. The site showcases his professional experience, technical skills, and projects. It is a personal, non-commercial project and is not affiliated with any employer or client.

By accessing this website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use immediately.

§2About Atlas — the AI Agent

Atlas is an AI-powered chat assistant built to answer questions about Sebastien Girard's professional background. It is a demonstration project built using Google ADK (Agent Development Kit)and Google's Gemini language model.

Atlas is nota licensed professional service, a legal or financial advisor, or an authoritative source. Its responses are generated by a large language model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. The agent is strictly configured to discuss Sebastien's professional background only; all other topics will be declined.

You must be at least 16 years of age to use the Atlas chat feature.

§3Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data:

  • Account data:When you sign in via Google OAuth, we store your Google account name, email address, and a unique identifier (Google's subject token). We do not store your Google password or any payment information.
  • Chat messages: All messages you send to Atlas and all responses Atlas generates may be stored in a private database. This includes messages sent both before and after signing in, within the same session.
  • Usage metadata: We record the number of custom messages you send each week for quota enforcement. Each usage event is timestamped and associated with your account.
  • Website visit data: We log anonymous session identifiers, page names, and timestamps when you visit the Atlas section of this website. This data may or may not be linked to your account depending on whether you are signed in.
  • Technical metadata: Standard web server logs may include your IP address, browser user agent, and referring URL. These are not actively stored in our application database but may appear in hosting provider logs.

We do not use tracking cookies, third-party advertising pixels, or behavioral tracking. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.

§4How We Use Your Data

  • To operate the Atlas AI agent and provide responses to your questions.
  • To enforce weekly message quotas and character limits.
  • To analyze usage patterns and improve the quality and relevance of Atlas's responses.
  • To understand website traffic (aggregate, anonymized).
  • To investigate misuse or violations of the Acceptable Use policy (§8).

The legal basis for processing your data is your explicit consent, given at the time you accept these Terms before your first chat message. You may withdraw consent at any time by requesting deletion of your data (see §6).

§5Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you have not used Atlas for 24 consecutive months, your account and associated data may be automatically purged.
  • Chat messages are retained indefinitely for quality improvement, unless you request deletion.
  • Usage / quota records are retained for 12 months from the date of each message.
  • Website visit logs are retained for 90 days.
  • Hosting provider logs (IP addresses, etc.) follow the retention policy of the hosting provider and are outside the direct control of Sebastien Girard.

§6Your Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Canada, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Right to restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data.
  • Right to data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time, which will stop future data collection (but will not affect data already collected).

To exercise any of these rights, contact sebastien@sebgrd.dev. Requests will be processed within 30 days.

§7Usage Limits & Quotas

To manage operating costs and prevent abuse, the Atlas chat feature enforces the following limits:

  • Weekly message quota: Authenticated users may send a configurable number of custom messages per week (default: 20). Quotas reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
  • Per-message character limit: Each custom message is limited to a configurable number of characters (default: 2,000). Messages exceeding this limit cannot be sent.
  • Context limit: The total length of a conversation is capped (default: 10,000 characters) to limit AI inference costs.
  • Preset questions are free and do not count toward any quota.

These limits are subject to change without notice. Current limits are always visible in the Atlas interface via the Terms button.

§8Acceptable Use

You agree not to use this website or Atlas to:

  • Attempt to extract personal contact details, home addresses, or private information beyond what is publicly disclosed by Sebastien Girard.
  • Perform prompt injection, jailbreaking, or any attempt to override or circumvent Atlas's system instructions.
  • Generate, solicit, or distribute harmful, defamatory, harassing, or misleading content about Sebastien Girard or any third party.
  • Automate requests or use scripts to circumvent quota limits or place undue load on the service.
  • Impersonate Sebastien Girard or misrepresent the responses generated by Atlas as official statements.
  • Use Atlas's responses in commercial products or services without express written permission.

Violations may result in immediate suspension of access without notice.

§9Disclaimers & Liability

This website and Atlas are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Sebastien Girard is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from:

  • Reliance on AI-generated responses in professional, legal, medical, financial, or other critical contexts.
  • Service downtime, data loss, or security incidents beyond reasonable control.
  • Actions taken by third parties based on information from this website.

AI language models are probabilistic systems that can produce confident-sounding but incorrect output. Always independently verify critical information before acting on it.

§10Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated at any time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes affecting data collection or user rights, users will be asked to re-accept via the in-chat consent gate.
